Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano tour from Palazzo San Niccolò

The hotel can organize a full day tour of the cities of Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano, that are the land of the famous Pecorino cheese and the Brunello wine and pearls of Val d’Orcia landscapes.

Pienza: a beautiful Renaissance city, is located in the centre of Val d’Orcia, it is surrounded by a valley that has maintained the typical landscape of Crete sienese. In Pienza you can visit many monuments and historical Palace, but is more interested to visit the famous shops and Pecorino di Pienza diary, which is dedicated the Palio del Cacio di Pienza being done in the first week of the month of September on the Duomo square.

Montalcino: it rises on a hill overlooking the countryside and still has a part of the thirteenth-century fortress While you are walking between the small streets, artisan shops, typical cafes and food shops you can visit the beautiful Town Hall, the Palazzo Vescovile with the Montalcino museums, the old Crocefisso of Sant'Antimo, from the mid 12th century and the churches of Sant'Agostino, Sant'Egidio and San Francesco all built between the XIII and the XIV century, and you can visit the sanctuary of Madonna del Soccorso. The famous wine produced is the Rosso di Montepulciano and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano to visit the wineries and the village. Famous is the festival of Bravio delle Botti, that takes place the last week of August and it’s a competition between the districts of Montepulciano where two men rush a big barrel between the small street of the village and the finish is in the Piazza Grande where is the Duomo di Montepulciano. Many film directors choose Montalcino for famous movies as "Under the Tuscan sun" and "New Moon" by the Twilight saga.
